On September 26, 2016 at 4:30 PM, Anna Julia Cooper Center Postdoctoral Fellow in Political Science Dr. Jaira Harrington will deliver the public lecture “Served and Protected: Brazilian Black Women and State Violence.” Her lecture will be held in DeTamble Auditorium in Tribble Hall. The lecture is a part of the Wake Forest University Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Colloquium Series.
Dr. Jaira Harrington earned her doctorate of Political Science from the University of Chicago. Dr. Harrington’s comparative research on race, gender, and labor in Brazil has been funded by the Ford Foundation, NSEP Boren Graduate Fellowship and the Tinker Grant Foundation. She has published work in edited volumes and journals including the Women’s Policy Journal of the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and the Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies Journal. Dr Harrington teaches in the Politics and International Affairs Department at Wake Forest University.
